Once a day around midnight (GMT) the coronavirus mortality timeseries data is imported. Only the countries for which the mortality is larger than 1 death per million inhabitants are imported. For each country the date on which the 1 death per million inhabitants was reached is looked up. When plotting the charts the lines are shifted in such a way that the y-axis crosses the 1 death per million inhabitants point.

The area spanned by all the hair lines is filled to highlight the bandwidth of countries which have just reach the 1 death per million milestone.

Looking at chart it can be concluded that most European countries follow the same trajectory.

The following columns are show

• Country/region:China, Australia and Canada have data on province/state level. Other countries only on country level. Only countries for which mortality is greater than 1.0 death per million inhabitants and number of deaths is larger than 300 are listed.
• Days behind Hubei:Time difference from when mortality per million inhabitants in Hubei province in China (where pandemic started) exceeded 1.0
• population [millions]: number of inhabitants of a country, province or state
• deaths till now: total number of deaths including death statistics published 1/Jan/70>
• deaths/1M capita: total number of deaths per million inhabitants
• 0.1 deaths/1M capita[date]:Date on which mortality per million inhabitants exceeded 0.1
• 0.11 deaths:Time difference from when mortality per million inhabitants exceeded 0.1 and when it exceeded 1.0 (so mortality increased tenfold)
• 1.010 deaths:Time difference from when mortality per million inhabitants exceeded 1.0 and when it exceeded 10 (so mortality increased another tenfold)
• 10100 deaths:Time difference from when mortality per million inhabitants exceeded 10 and when it exceeded 100 (so mortality increased again another tenfold)

For example it can be seen that in Italy the number of deaths became 1000 times as large in 8+7+13=28 days=4 weeks.

For each country the date on which the 10 deads per million elderly inhabitants was reached is looked up. When plotting the charts the lines are shifted in such a way that the y-axis crosses the 1 death per million elderly inhabitants point.

Note: the age of the number of persons who died from the coronavirus is unknown. Therefore all the deaths (including the ones for which age<65, which is only a small portion) are devided by the numer of inhabitants with an age higher than or equal to 65.
